SORI SAN LORENZO

95% Nebbiolo with 5% Barbera

In 1964, the Gaja family purchased this vineyard from the parish of Alba and named it after San Lorenzo, the patron saint of Alba's cathedral. "Sori" means hilltop with southern exposure.

Aroma: Highly concentrated currant and blackcherry fruit with a hint of coffee, in addition to aromas of fine herbs, minerals and exotic spices. Taste: Almost always the most powerful of Gaja's five single-vineyard wines, requiring a longer time to fully develop. A very focused, concentrated wine with a long, lingering finish and refined tannins, it has excellent aging potential.

Barolo

Barolo is an Italian wine, one of many to claim the title "Wine of kings, and king of wines".
It is produced in the communes of Barolo, Castiglione Falletto, Serralunga d'Alba
and parts of the communes of Cherasco, Diano d'Alba, Grinzane Cavour, La Morra,
Monforte d'Alba, Novello, Roddi, Verduno, all in the province of Cuneo.
Only vineyards in the hills with suitable slopes and orientations are considered
adapted to production, and the terrains must be primarily clayey-calcareous
in character. The wine is produced from the Nebbiolo grape variety. It matures at the end of
September. The clusters are dark blue and greyish with the abundant wax that dresses the grapes.
Their form is lengthened, pyramidal, with small, spherical grapes with substantial peel.
The leaves are of average size with three or five lobes.

Barbaresco

Barbaresco is a red wine and in a way the younger brother of Barolo. Both of these red wines
are made in the Piedmont area of Italy, and made from the nebbiolo grape
While Barolo wines are rich and thick, Barbaresco wines are more elegant and aromatic,
though still powerful. Also, while Barolo wines have been around for centuries, the
Barbaresco heritage is only a few hundred years old. The Barbaresco area is much smaller than
the Barolo area, only 1,200 acres being planted. Barbarescos are aged for a
year in wood and is great from 5-10 years of age

Barbera & Dolcetto

Barbera is a relatively recent wine for Italy, only mentioned in the 1600s. It's a rich, robust red that is made with the barbera grape. Barbera does very well in Italy and is now the third most planted red grape in Italy. Dolcetto is a black wine grape variety widely grown in the Piedmont region of northwest Italy. The name means "little sweet one," though it is nearly always a dry wine.

Brunello di Montalcino

Brunello di Montalcino is a red wine produced in the vineyards surrounding the town of Montalcino, Italy.
Brunello is a local name for Sangiovese in Italian, and is one of the best-known wines of Italy.
Brunellos are capable of aging.Brunello must be made from 100% Brunello clones of
the sangiovese (a range of clones of the Sangiovese Grosso). It is released no sooner
than the fifth year after harvest (i.e. 2001 Brunello is released in early 2006).
Brunello currently must be aged in wood for 2 years and at least 4 months in a bottle
before release. Traditionally, the wines are aged 3 years or so in "botte," large oak casks
that impart little oak flavor but allow for the controlled softening of the wine.
Modernists use small barrique which impart a more pronounced oak flavor. There is a middle
ground where the wine is aged in small barrique for a short time and then spends
a longer sojourn in the traditional botte.

Rosso Di Montalcino

Rosso di Montalcino is aged in wood for 12 to 15 months. This wine is the proof that Sangiovese in Montalcino can produce quality wines to be drunk immediately even though there is a marked improvement by waiting a couple of years.

Masi

Masi production strategy aims to emphasize the personality of each single product, while maintaining a
recognisable Venetian style. In 1958, Masi was in the forefront of the work to identify the historic "cru"
vineyard sites for Amarone. In 1964, Campofiorin was the first in a new category of wines, reinventing the
technique of double fermentation and continually updating it.Masi has also updated the style of Amarone,
using new appassimento and vinification technologies.Masi wines are modern, attractive, well-balanced
and easily identifiable;which have earned Masi recognition for having "revolutionized the art of wine-making
in the venetian region

Sicilia

One of Europe's oldest viticultural regions still offers some pleasant surprises. Sicily's oenological history is an ancient one, dating from the time when the island was part of Magna Graecia. One usually associates fine wines with eastern Sicily and the areas near Mount Etna, but many new wineries have sprung up across the island. Sicilian oeniculture is not just varietals. Sicily's vintage wines are a magical creation, and many of the island's traditional wines and spirits are famous far beyond its shores

UMBRIA

The Umbrian red wine represents, among all the Italian red wines, a core of high quality in the
art of fine wine. The DOC, denomination of controlled origin, and the even
more protective DOCG are guaranteeing the fine red wine by Umbria and the main part of the
red wines of the region; however, some varieties of grapes deserve a particular
mention as they best represent the wine and gastronomic character of the region. The most diffused
red wines belong to the varieties of the Sangiovese, followed by, the Canaiolo,

MARCHE

Coined “the New Tuscany”, the Marche Wine Region is one of Italy’s last untouched wine
regions, and a must for gourmet travelers. Sandwiched between the Apennine
Mountains and the Adriatic Sea, Amongst the thirteen, the one that covers the largest zone of

CAMPANIA

The region where Naples is capital, is the land of sunshine. Washed by the Tyrrhenian Sea at the
west, this southern region has all the right climatic and geographic conditions for
good wine production. High summer temperatures and mild winters allow the grapes to ripen to
full maturity and assure a high sugar content. Wine production in Campania is
centered in the area around Avellino (between Napoli and Salerno), with its dry climate
exposed to the influences of the Tirrhanean Sea.
